The National Police Director, Chris Massaquoi had ordered yesterday that Mr. Diah be transferred to the National Security Agency (NSA), where most of the nine (9) Grand Gedeans were previously detained and allegedly tortured to force confession out of them.
However, following the issuance of our press release demanding the government to charge Mr. Diah and accord him due process, the police rushed him to the Magisterial Court this morning local Liberian time and issued him a writ of arrest. Court and relative sources said Mr. Diah was arraigned and was remanded to jail awaiting the posting of a proper "property valuable bond" to secure his release.
Cllr. Dempster Brown acting on behalf of the Concerned Grand Gedeans in the Americas, who represents the first seven (7) Grand Gedeans, has assured that he will file the appropriate legal precepts on behalf of Mr. Diah. The lawyer is between the Supreme Court where the previous case is awaiting Chamber Justice's review and the lower court where Oforie was arraigned to ensure the defendants are adequately covered.
According to court sources, Oforie Diah will need a property, like a house, a company or insurance company to file a proper bond before he can be bailed out, something the lawyer cannot provide. A conversation with a court officer said the problem would be that the government prosecution may reject any bond just so that Mr. Diah could remain behind bars for a longer time. But our lawyer is making frantic efforts to settle the issue legally.
Mr. Diah was arrested and detained more than 48 hours ago when he ran to the police to report an explosion near his residence. While at the Central Police Station on Capitol Hill, he was instead arrested and detained. Police sources said one of the Grand Gedeans who has been detention at the NSA for more than one week without charges, Bobby Sarpee Julu, confessed that Oforie was part of the Ivory Coast attack that killed seven UN Nigerien soldiers and two Ivorian soldiers recently. Our sources said the explosion was an assassination attempt on Mr. Diah's life.
It can be recalled that the police lied on two of the seven defendants that they confessed the names of Nezee Barway and others. The FrontPageAfrica reported recently that upon arriving at the Temple of Justice, the defendants told the press that the police lied, and that they did not confessed to anything.
